Katie Bock has worked at Rung for over a year and has impacted our members and staff. With her contagious spirit, incredible work ethic, and intentional passion for serving others, we are grateful to have Katie as Director of Career Development.
What do you like most about working at Rung?
I truly love the environment of JOY that exists in the day-to-day work at Rung. Even on hard days or busy days, I have never dreaded coming to work. This is because I am met with smiles and encouragement from my coworkers, supervisor, VPs, etc. You can tell that everyone’s heart is on the mission!
What has been your favorite project to work on?
My favorite project for Rung has been helping implement new group coaching sessions that rolled out this last year (since January) for cohorts 4-6. I love working with members in a larger group, giving them new tools to help them in their career journey, and learning from each member’s personal stories/experiences.
Who are your personal sheroes, women you look up to?
A few of my personal Sheroes include:
My mom has been through a lot in her life but has always held onto her faith. She inspires me to be confident in who I am now and strive to become the best version of myself.
Immaculée Ilibagiza – Immaculée is a survivor of the Rwandan Genocide. She describes her experience in her book Left to Tell, where she describes how she hid for 91 days in a small bathroom with seven other women. Her book also describes her battle with forgiveness and how her faith helped her eventually bring peace to Rwanda through her work with the United Nations. I have personally heard her speak several times and have met her! She is an amazing woman, and I even plan to name a future daughter after her if I have one!
My sisters and sister-in-law: They are amazing, strong women and inspire me to be the best version of myself. They help me stay positive and keep my head up!! They are the best sisters anyone could ask for!
What do you like to do in your free time?
I am an extrovert, so in my free time, I mostly like to spend it with friends and family. One of my favorite things to do is to meet with my women’s community group, which meets every Monday. I have had the honor and privilege of leading this group of women for nine years!
I also like to spend time outdoors and to do any art!
How have you grown since working at Rung?
Like many members, I have learned to recognize my strengths and identify areas for growth. This self-awareness has allowed me to focus on what I do well, be confident in my work, and even find ways to improve areas I felt I needed to improve.
You can always count on Katie to have a smile on her face and in her heart. Rung for Women is proud to have her.
