What is your title? What do you do at Rung?
I am the Admissions Coordinator. I provide prospective members with clear, helpful information about the program, ensuring they understand its opportunities and expectations. I guide them step-by-step through the application and admissions process, offering support and encouragement along the way. While they await placement in a future cohort, I maintain consistent communication, share resources, and foster a sense of connection so they remain engaged and excited about their upcoming journey.
What do you like most about working at Rung?
Honestly, just being at Rung feels special. I feel cared for and accepted and like I can finally take a deep breath. I love being part of an organization that encourages women to prioritize themselves and their dreams. I feel deeply connected to our mission, especially when I’m sharing it with others and helping women learn about the program. Rung is a place where I can make a difference for others while also continuing to grow and care for myself.
What has been your favorite project to work on?
My favorite project to work on was assisting with transitioning the application process into Brightspace. It was so fun to see the backend of that platform as well as play around with the different functions. I loved working on a project that made a huge impact on the flow and ease of the admissions process.
Who are your personal sheroes, women you look up to?
One of my biggest sheroes is Kesha! She’s more than just an artist I love—she’s a living reminder to be brave, to speak up, and to never apologize for being exactly who I am. I admire how strong and unapologetically herself she is. Her courage to speak openly about her experiences with abuse, and to fight for her voice with such honesty, is incredibly inspiring. She stood up for herself in a situation where it would’ve been easier and safer to stay quiet, and that kind of bravery gives me strength to stand up for myself, even when it’s hard. She reminds me it’s okay to be complex, to struggle, and to grow at my own pace. Kesha also champions self-love and celebrates people for exactly who they are—even if they don’t fit into the mold of what’s considered “normal.” She makes people feel like they belong, just as they are, and I think the world could use a whole lot more of that.
How have you grown since working at Rung?
Before I came to Rung for Women, I was working in social work, mostly with children in foster care. I loved the work, but I was always taking care of everyone else. And then as a mom, I have been pouring all of my energy into raising Nixon and somewhere along the way, I lost myself. Being at Rung has been a huge shift for me. I’ve learned it’s okay—and actually really important—to put myself first. It was really hard to stop working in the child welfare industry and I am proud of myself for choosing a new path that would fill my cup. Now, I get to work with women who are figuring out their own paths, and I can cheer them on because I’ve been there too.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I love traveling, playing mini golf, spending time with my friends, binge watching reality TV, hanging out with my husband, Jeremy, and 6 y/o son, Nixon, reading, and going to concerts.
What book, podcast, artist, or playlist are you currently into?
I’ve been reading Murder by Cheesecake: a Golden Girls Cozy Mystery for several months lol – I am afraid to read it too fast because then it will be over.
